Time Management

78490789Recently my youth pastor posted on his website some fantastic articles on time management principles. What so impressed me about them was not their unique and creative approach, but rather their simplicity.

Growing up, playing sports- it was always interesting when we would revert to practicing fundamentals. My varsity basketball coach, Curt Beeson, would often have us work on fundamentals. We are not talking about a kid’s city league here, we are talking about young men who have played basketball for a long time, and have basically mastered the fundamentals. Ironically, whenever we did work on fundamentals in practice, we always played better in games.
Looking at time management, often we are guilty of the same thing. We get so advanced on strategy and planning that we forget about the basics. Sometimes we get so locked into finding a system that works- a Blackberry, a DayRunner, the Covey System, you fill in the blank.  The newest and coolest gadget or system is not always the solution. Getting back to the basics can be however. Why are we organizing? What works for us? Am I missing the big picture?

I believe that Bro. Schmidt did a fantastic job addressing and explaining these questions. For a better written and encouraging read on time management, I would encourage you to check it out. Click on the link: http://caryschmidt.com/
