Customer Service?

April 21st, 2009

Over the past few days, I have discovered that I would rather buy everything online and not deal with anyone, than have to deal with poor customer service. (I know, I know, I work in ministry- I should understand how to work with people.) Seriously, though- In the past three days I have dealt with the worst customer service I have ever seen.Between Sprint, Cox, and CA Internet Software, I have just about given up on customer service.

I purchased a new Blackberry through Sprint the other day. Three days later, I had already charged it about 6x. Now I use my phone a lot, but having to charge it twice a day is in no way a comparison of my usage. So yesterday, I took it in. I walked in…no one else was in there but the workers. They all sat there and looked at me. No “hello”, no “how can I help you?”…nothing. So I walked up to the lady and explained there was something wrong with my phone. She rolls her eyes and takes it behind the desk. She starts asking questions like I am an idiot. “Have you used it a lot?” “Are you out of the service area?” So I patiently explained that I have had a Blackberry before and am experienced with them, and all the guys in the office have the same one, and no one is charging it twice a day. I also mentioned to her that the trackball is sticking. To which she replies- “Your fingers are probably dirty” (Wow!) That is when the employee next to her gets up and unlocks the case and pulls out a new one. He turns to her and goes, “Just trade it out, with a new one.” Apparently I was an inconvenience to his peace and quiet. So now they are going through the process of transferring everything and another gentleman walks in. They told him they would be with him in a minute! There were three of them and just me! I guess they cannot multi-task. I was trying to carry a light-hearted conversation, which did not work either. “So do you have a lot of problems with these Blackberry’s?”
Sprint employee: “nope…not really. You probably just don’t have the right stuff updated.”
So then the guy who was waiting explains his Blackberry is having problems… I laughed.
They gave me my phone, and I left. Only to get out to the car and discover the back cover was cracked and would not close over the battery!!!!

Needless to say…I was not happy. I took it to another store today, and they fixed it no problem. They even said “Hello” when I walked in! I guess that is the total sum of good customer service these days.

Welcome!
